Cornucopias game, metaverse & its COPI tokens

Cornucopias game is a play-to-earn metaverse game that's building on top of Unreal Engine 5 & Cardano. This metaverse will be a network of 12 floating theme zones, multiple domes & bubbles, which will be customizable. Game participants will own land & NFT based assets. These assets will be tradeable on P2P markets.

The game will be available to play via mobile phones, PCs, consoles and TV. It will also be available in 2D, 3Dm VR & AR formats. Cornucopias will first launch to mobile mainnet in 2023 and the PC versions will hit mainnet in 2024 and beyond.

Before these full releases, the team will release Alpha and Beta versions of the game, which will not include the play-to-earn component. Cornucopias release schedule is as follows:

In March 2022, Cornucopias listed its native COPI tokens on Minswap DEX. These COPI tokens are Cardano-based that Cornucopias minted after burning an equal of tokens from the Binance Smart Chain. The team intends to leverage a BNB - Cardano bridge to allow seamless transfer of tokens between the chains soon.

The COPI token will be used to manage the economy of the Cornucopias metaverse.

Buy COPI tokens

Cornucopias tokens can be bought from Cardano DEXes or from PancakeSWap on the Binance smartchain.MinSwap & Wingriders have higher COPI token liquidity which may result in better COPI prices & slippage.

Cornucopias has also been airdropping COPI tokens via DripDropz since epoch 341 to ADA holders.

Cornucopias ADA + NFT Staking program

On August 20th, Cornucopias team announced an ADA plus NFT staking program. Users can stake their ADA with COPI stakepool and earn bonus COPI tokens via DripDropz. Delegators' rewards will accumulate every month if not withdrawn. However, the rewards will be lost if not withdrawn after every consequtive 7 epochs.

3.5 million COPI tokens will be distributed via these staking program. The team intends to distribute these tokens over a 24 epochs period i.e 120 days.

Starting epoch 360 those who started staking on epoch 358 to the COPI stake pool will earn 0.0125 COPI per ADA staked per epoch.

To those who started staking with COPI stakepool on or after epoch 359, the team will use an exponential decay function to calculate determine the reward rate. Early adopters will receive bonus COPI.

Note: Cornucopias is not conducting an ISPO via this program. Delegators will receive all their normal ADA staking rewards in addition to the COPI tokens.

There will be a bonus for those holding Cornucopias land NFTs. These bonuses will depend on the size of the land and its rarity. Their rewards pattern for NFT owners are as shown in the figure below.

Cornucopias economic model?

Just like other metaverse games, Cornucopias has designed its game with an in-game economic model that will incentivize players to engage. Cornucopias players will benefit from the following earning mechanisms:

1. Play-to-earn

   While playing, participants will earn in-game gold tokens which will be exchangable for COPI tokens. $COPI tokens can then be exchanged for ADA or other tokens. To earn these gold tokens, users have to complete challenges with varying difficult levels.

2. Build-to-earn

   To cultivate a thriving in-game economy, users will be required to build and generate in-game goods e.g crops, food, fuel & other tradeable merchandise. To incentivize these activities, they will receive gold tokens which they can in turn use to buy more tools, expand their territory or exchange for real world value.

3. Learn-to-earn

   Cornucopias is partnering with institutions such as European business university. These partners will help develop educational mini-games, which players will participate in and earn the in-game currency. The in-game currency will then be exchangable for COPI tokens.

   

4. Stake-to-earn

   By staking COPI tokens or in-game NFTs in staking pools, for certain period of times, players can earn a profit via various rewards formula. Another benefit of staking will include access to exclusive in-game areas The rewards distribution will be determined by Cornucopias governance.

5. Host-to-earn

   Users who choose to host their own games will earn COPI tokens. These users will need to run a public licensed Cornucopias node. These nodes will fall under two categories i.e COPI data nodes & COPI game nodes. Players will host on their PCs using add-on features on the game's desktop launcher.

Going by the preview on their website, Cornucopia will feature world-class graphics, thanks to AAA Unreal Engine 5. Each player will start with a free home bubble from which they will learn skills, earn, build and expand. No mandatory monthly subscription fees will be required for players to play the game.

Cornucopias governance token is COPI. It has a total supply of 3.84 billion COPI tokens. Here is a teardown of how these COPI tokens will be allocated.

Is Cornucopias exclusive to Cardano?

No. Cornucopias is built as blockchain agnostic. However, most of its community members come from the Cardano community. Cardano also provides great testing capabilities i.e via its testnet network. The team building the metaverse is leveraging and other factors provided by Cardano.

Although the game as blockchain agnostic, the strong bonds it has cultivated with Cardano is likely to make it almost a Cardano exclusive in the longrun.

Cornucopias NFTs

Cornucopias team is utilizing NFTs in these early stages. Here are the utilities that these NFTs represent for 'The Island':

1. Raising money for game development

2. In-game utility

   Cornucopias will have a variety of NFT’s up for grabs; one example being Ground based mounts, i.e. Tigers, Horses and Camels.

   There will also be Airborne mounts such as Unicorns and Water based mounts i.e. Dolphins. These NFTs can be common or more rare/unique. The rarer it is, the more it will sell for. ~ Rob Greig

   NFTs earned while playing the game will forever be on the blockchain. Meaning that whoever earned them doesn't have to replay the game again if the game servers are wiped.

   Holders of certain in-game NFTs gain access to exclusive game levels or competitive events. Players can also stake their NFTs in return for-in game rewards.

Cornucopias COPI token yield farming opportunities

MinSwap and Wingriders have each added a ADA/COPI yield farm on their DEXs. COPI owners can provide COPI as liquidity in exchange for MIN and WRT yields respectively.

Community

Cornucopia has attracted a massive online community, second only to PAVIA in the Cardano metaverse/gaming space. Just recently, the COPI team completed its 3rd day of its 5 days land sale event. Participants from across 159 days came together to buy plots of land, and all the scheduled slots were sold out in a matter of minutes. These news underline the enthuasism in the community about the prospects of the project.
